POLICE have appealed for witness to come forward after ateenager was stabbed during a fight onWharf Road outside a Newcastle club.
Emergency services received a call that a young man with wounds to his upper body had been found on Wharf Road shortly before 3am.
The 18-year-old had reportedlyleft a licensed premisesas he was feeling unwell.
Inside the premises the man’s friends and another group became involved in an altercation and were all ejected from the club.
The man’s friends rejoined him and shortly after, the man and a male from the other group became involved in a physical altercation.
During the fight several punches were thrown by both males, but the 18-year-old man also received stab wounds to his head and hand, caused by a small knife.
The offender and his group fled from the area as the injured man was assisted by members of his group.
Police from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene seizing items for further forensic examination, from the location.
Paramedics attended the scene and the teen was taken to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.He suffered stab wounds to his shoulder and chest area, as well as a laceration on his head.
The alleged offender has been described to police only as being in his early 20s with red hair.
